Sidewalk Project Update

Sidewalk Update

The Town Commissioners were briefed by a State Highway Administration employee on September 26th concerning the ongoing sidewalk project along MD 267 (Bladen) in Charlestown from the Edgewater to Market Street.  The wall in the 800 block of Bladen Street will be taken down utilizing a very large construction crane which necessitates a detour which is laid out below.  The detour will occur daily beginning tentatively during the week of October 16th and lasting for around two weeks.  The detour will be from  8AM to 4PM daily.  Signs will be placed to help you navigate the detour.  If you use MD 267 (Bladen Street) to get to and from the elementary school in the mornings and afternoons you will need to use the west side of 267 to get there from Trinity Woods, Scott Gardens, Cool Springs, and West Old Philadelphia Road (Rte 7), utilizing a left hand turn into the school from Rte 267.  The detour will only turn you around to your original place on Bladen Street and not get you through town to continue back onto Bladen Street.  We want to reiterate that this is a State Highway Project over which the Town of Charlestown has no control.  We thank you for your patience as this project is completed.
