Another boating season is upon us and it is time to assign slips at
the Town Pier. We will leave the electric on again this year. These
are convenience outlets primarily for the ice-eaters, not power outlets
for boats. You may use them for short-term things like charging a
battery, running a drill, etc. We are very concerned the resultant
electric bill be minimal.
The Town Pier was fully funded by grant money from the State of Maryland’s
Boating Administration. As such, the Boating Administration and the
Town have certain regulations, which must be followed in making this
pier available for use by the public and are as follows:
1. All slip holders will have the right of renewal in the following
year.
2. The Boating Administration is allowing a $300.00 per season user
fee to be charged.
3. The $300.00 fee must be paid to the Town prior to occupying your
assigned slip or no later than April 15, 2008. Any slips not contracted
for by April 15, 2008 will be assigned to the next person on the waiting
list.
4. As the Town Pier was funded through Maryland Boat Registration
tax revenues, the Boating Administration requires that all boats occupying
seasonal slips be Maryland registered. All boats must be Maryland
registered prior to occupying seasonally assigned slips.
5. The Town pier boating season is March 15 through November 30. Boats
will not be permitted at the pier from December 1 through March 14
because of winter icing.
6. The Boating Administration and the Town require that this facility
be used to its maximum extent. Therefore, any slip contracted for
must be actively occupied during the season and not held vacant, which
has been the practice by some individuals. Any slips that are not
regularly occupied during the summer will be reassigned to the next
person on the waiting list.
7. All slips are 11 ft. x 24 ft. with 4 ft. of water depth. The maximum
size boat permitted at this dock will be 26 ft. length over-all.
8. Because of the limited width of the dock surface, dock boxes will
not be permitted.
9. Any structures or devices to aid in boat boarding must receive
prior approval before being installed.
10. All slip holders will be responsible for securing their boats
within their assigned slips. There is no regular Town security patrol
and since boat piers carry some inherent degree of personal danger,
all slip holders use this facility at their own risk. The Town will
not assume any liability for theft, sinking, injuries or other damage
caused to boats, property or people using this facility.
11. NO SUBLETTING. All boats must be registered to the applicant or
an immediate family member residing at the applicant’s address.
12. There are 36 slips on this dock but the Boating Administration
has required that 2 slips be kept unassigned and made available for
traveling transient boaters. Therefore, 34 slips will be available
for permanent yearly assignment.
13. You will retain the same slip that you occupied the previous year.
14. This pier is strictly for boating activities. Fishing and swimming
are not permitted from this facility.
15. Courteous and proper behavior is required at all times.
16. Electricity has been installed on the Town pier, primarily for
the ice-eaters during the winter to prevent ice damage. However, use
of the electricity for emergencies (i.e. use of electric drill to
make emergency repair, to start or re-start boat motor) will be allowed
but continual use of the electricity will not be permitted.
17. Any violation of the above regulations may result in the loss
of your boat slip with no refund.
Happy Boating!
